Gold Coasters are being reminded of a number of road closures with the 2022 ‘Cooly Rocks On’ festival currently taking place in Coolangatta.

Over 130,000 people are expected to flock to the five-day event which kicked off on Wednesday and will wrap up on Sunday night.

Motorists are advised that travelling near the Coolangatta CBD during the event may result in delays due to diversions that will be in place.

Police say they have been working with event organisers to ensure the festival is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.

Major Events Group Senior Sergeant Des Hearn says they will be present to monitor and address any antisocial behaviour, particularly in regard to liquor offences.

“Officers will be out to ensure public wellbeing and minimal disruption to locals during the event,” he says.

Expect delays and traffic congestion at the following Coolangatta road closures from 10:00pm on Friday June 10 to 11:59pm on Sunday June 12:
