There’s finally some relief for residents in Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valleys, with fire crews finally getting the upper hand on a bushfire in the area.
The blaze near Ryans Road has been burning for six days now after first erupting on Friday afternoon.
After battling the blaze every day since, Corey Bock from the Rural Fire Service says things have finally improved on the ground.
“We now can say that the fire is under control and we’ve got a good rein on what is happening with that,” he said.
“The fire has mostly gone out, it has been burning slowly down each of the ridge lines.
“We’ve got some good containment lines in where we’ve been working very hard with the bulldozers over the past two days.
“But over the next few days make sure you’re still prepared at home”.
It comes after locals in the area gathered for another community meeting overnight.
