A caravan has been destroyed after erupting into flames at a caravan park in Upper Coomera.

A police officer was travelling along the M1 around 10pm last night when he noticed plumes of black smoke.

The male officer rushed to the scene at Reserve Road and found an unoccupied caravan well alight.

The flames began to neighbouring caravans so he jumped into action; using a garden hoses to try and extinguish the fire.

The fire was contained to the caravan and firefighters managed to fully extinguished it.

Four people were treated on scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation, but all refused hospital transport.
