Surfers Paradise is being transformed into a major event space ahead of the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

Bump-in has commenced on the foreshore with the inaugural three-day event to take place from 18-20 August.

Locals are warned of a number of road closures and detours in place ahead of the event and during, as well as exclusion zones.

The Esplanade is now closed in both directions from Hanlan Street through to the Peppers Soul roundabout with diversions currently in place.

The southbound lane of the Esplanade is also closed from Hanlan Street to Clifford Street.

Event Director Kevin Elliott says it’s exciting to see the beach being transformed for the show.

“With the Esplanade being slightly elevated from the beach and the way that the city has profiled everything for us, it’s going to be a spectacular show,” Mr Elliott says.

“The venue is going to be an awesome experience. We’re going to have all kinds of hospitality, a great sound system, great entertainment. And then of course, you have all the views from the apartments and everywhere,

“I think there couldn’t be a better place on the earth to potentially do an Airshow like what we’re going to do here in a couple of days.”

Hospitality areas will be built on the beach, along with cabanas, corporate chalets and various beach clubs.

An exclusion zone will also be in place for boaties and swimmers as pictured below.

Boaties are permitted to anchor outside the exclusion zone.
