UPDATE @ 5.00 PM | More than 2,600 homes and businesses across parts of the Gold Coast are currently without power as storms sweep across the city.
Suburbs on the northern Gold Coast are worst affected.
There are more than 1,500 customers offline in Ormeau Hills, with another 732 without power in Ormeau and 244 in Kingsholme.
There are a handful of properties impacted in Pimpama and Yatala.
A separate power outage on the southern Gold Coast has knocked out power to almost 120 homes and businesses in Tugun and Currumbin Waters.
UPDATE @ 4.40 PM | The Bureau has issued a fresh severe storm warning for parts of the Gold Coast with another large storm cell moving in from the south.
“The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:30 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Bundamba Lagoon, Greenbank, the area south of the NSW border, Mount Tamborine and Peak Crossing.
“These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Jimboomba by 5:00 pm and Coolangattaby 5:30 pm.”
Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
Another line of severe storms is continuing to track across parts of the northern Gold Coast.

EARLIER | A severe storm warning has been issued for parts of the Gold Coast with areas of the Hinterland currently in the firing line.
Some large cells have developed to our west and are heading towards the coast.
“The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Little Nerang Dam, Nerang, Numinbah Valley and Maroon Dam.
“These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Kooralbyn, Canungra and Mount Tamborine by 4:25 pm and Boonah, the area between Boonah and Beaudesert and Coomera by 4:55 pm.”
Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

Heavy rain has already started impacting areas closer to the coast with lifeguards closing Tallebudgera Creek beach because of the conditions.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
