Dozens of Police have descended on a Gold Coast unit complex after neighbours reported seeing a man armed with an axe.
Police were called to the building on High St in Southport around 7.40pm on Sunday after the man was spotted jumping a fence into their yard.
Polair was also dispatched to the scene.
The man was located a short time later but he was not in possession of an axe.
Officers searched the residence, locating a gel blaster.
No one was injured during the incident and investigations are continuing.
