Gold Coast detectives have renewed their appeal for information as they ramp up their investigation into the suspicious death of a man in Benowa.

The “mummifed” body of Tomislav Nemes was found in a home along Edinburgh Road on April 17 this year after interstate relatives asked police to conduct a welfare check.

Initial enquiries indicate the 69-year-old may have been deceased at the property for more than 12 months.

“While scientific examinations remain ongoing to determine his cause of death, it is being treated as suspicious,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Mr Nemes was originally from the Australian Capital Territory and moved to Queensland in 2018.

Detectives are appealing for the man’s friends, family and associates from both ACT and Queensland, who may have been in contact with Mr Nemes in recent years, to come forward.
