Police are investigating whether a crash in Carrara that left two people injured was actually a hit-and-run.

A car careered off Gooding Drive at the roundabout at around 9.15pm on Tuesday night.

The vehicle then rolled and crashed into a fence.

A 51-year-old woman was trapped in the car for a short time before being released by firefighters.

The woman and a second occupant of the vehicle were later transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions.

Police are looking into whether a second car may have been involved in the accident before fleeing the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage is urged to contact Police.
