Crime scene declared as police probe suspicious fire in Southport

A crime scene has been declared in Southport after a suspicious blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning.

The fire initially erupted inside an industrial bin at a business on Ferry Road around 2.30am before quickly spreading to a nearby van.

Two adjacent businesses suffered smoke damage as a result of the flames, while one has also sustained water damage.

Police have now launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV footage, or may have been driving in the area at the time and has dashcam, to come forward.
