A major investigation is underway after two businesses were damaged in a suspicious fire on the Gold Coast overnight.
Three fire crews were called to Railway Street in Southport around 11.20pm, following reports of a blaze in a tobacco store.
Upon arrival, they found the flames had also spread to a neighboring restaurant.
Firies immediately launched into action and managed to bring the fire under control around half an hour later.
A Gold Coast police spokesperson told myGC both the tobacconist and restaurant were signficantly damaged.
Police are now working to determine exactly what or who sparked the blaze.
