Police probe after car explodes into flames on Gold Coast street

Investigations are underway after a car was found engulfed in flames on a suburban Gold Coast street.

Emergency crews were called to Southhaven Drive in Helensvale around 11pm on Tuesday following reports of a car fire.

Upon arrival, they found a ute had been completely destroyed after exploding into a fireball.

Firies worked to douse the flames, before police were also called to the scene.

Detectives are investigating whether the vehicle may have been stolen and dumped.

Fortunately, no one was injured.
