Police have expressed their frustration at the actions of motorists with 32 lives lost on Queensland roads already this year.
Twelve of those have been in the last seven days alone in what senior officers have described as an “absolute horror.”
Superintendent Ray Rohweder says it’s completely unacceptable.
“That’s 32 families, 32 people’s friends. It has a great impact on society when we lose that many people,” Superintendent Rohweder said.
Among the fatalities is a 53-year-old Gold Coast man who died after losing control of his motorbike on the M1 at Coomera on Friday afternoon before crashing into a guard rail.
Initial investigations suggest he may have been hit by a tree branch just before the accident.
Police say driver behaviour is still a major problem despite all their pleas for people to take care.
“They all revolve around particularly speed, not driving to road conditions and also inattention, things like incorrect overtaking.
“It’s been an absolute horror seven days and we really really need to appeal to the public to concentrate on what they’re doing.”
Police continue to investigate a nasty accident on Friday night after a car lost control and rolled, ending up in the front garden of a home at Mermaid Waters.
The driver, a 38-year-old Labrador man was injured in the crash.
He also allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.15.
Two men were arrested in Logan on Saturday after allegedly being clocked doing 200km/h in an 80 zone on Mt Lindsay Highway.
