A man has been charged following another alleged serious assault on a Police officer in Surfers Paradise.
An officer was conducting wanding operations in Orchid Avenue at around 9.20 on Sunday night when they stopped a man to check him for weapons.
It’s understood the man had been denied entry into a nightclub shortly before.
The man is then alleged to have struck the officer in the face, knocking him unconscious.
The attacker resisted arrest before other officers tasered him before taking him into custody.
The 28-year-old from Victoria has been charged with one count each of serious assault police and contravene direction or requirement – licenced premises and three counts each of obstruct police.
He was refused bail to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
The 34-year-old Senior Constable was taken to hospital for treatment for a serious facial injury and he remains there in a stable condition.
The latest incident follows an alleged attack on two officers in the same part of Surfers Paradise on Saturday night.
One officer was allegedly knocked unconscious while trying to stop a brawl outside a nightclub on Orchid Ave while a second officer suffered a facial injury.
Two men have been charged and will front court next month.
