Police have revoked an emergency declaration on the Gold Coast overnight after a huge fire broke out in a scrap metal yard.
The blaze erupted in the industrial area along Harper Street in Molendinar around 9pm Monday, sparking a massive emergency response.
It took multiple crews well over an hour to bring the blaze under control, forcing officers to issue an emergency declaration that shut down nearby streets.
Residents in the area were also told to shut their windows and doors due to the large amount of smoke.
The declaration was lifted around 1.30am on Tuesday after emergency services deemed the situation safe.
The scene remains under guard this morning, with investigations into the cause now underway.
