Police are investigating after a car that fled the scene of a nasty collision was involved in a serious single-vehicle crash just minutes later.
A Mercedes Benz hit a Suzuki Swift on Southport Nerang Road in Molendinar around 1am this morning, with the driver failing to stop and fleeing the scene.
Just ten minutes later, the same Mercedes was involved in a massive single-vehicle smash on the same road in Southport at the intersection of Binstead Drive.
The impact was so big, that it caused the car to roll over – with the driver reportedly entrapped.
Paramedics, including critical care, attended the scene and treated a male in his 50s with significant arm and leg injuries.
He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
