LATEST @ 8AM | A man who turned up to Logan Hospital with critical injuries following an alleged assault over the weekend has now died.

The 52-year-old was taken by friends to hospital around 12.30am on Monday, January 6, with significant head injuries.

He was then transported to a specialist care facility where police confirmed he sadly passed away overnight.

Initial investigations suggest the man was assaulted near Rudyard Street in Inala around 6.30pm on Sunday, however the exact circumstances remain a mystery.

Detectives had been looking for the victim’s missing RAV-4, however it has since been found.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with dashcam footage, particularly along Government Road at Richlands between Archerfield Road and Forest Lake Boulevard, between 6.15pm and 6.45pm on Sunday to come forward.

Several hours later, police were called to Logan Hospital after the man presented with significant head injuries.

He has since been transported to a specialist care facility where he remains in a critical condition.

Police are now appealing for help to track down a vehicle belonging to the vehicle, which remains outstanding.

The vehicle was last sighted at a fast-food restaurant on Government Road in Richlands, between 6pm and 6:30pm on Sunday evening.

Investigators are also appealing for anyone with dashcam vision from the vicinity of Government Road, between Archerfield Road and Forest Lake Boulevard, to come forward.
