New figures reveal the extent of Queensland’s hospital ramping crisis with some patients waiting almost 8 hours to be offloaded from an ambulance.
The alarming stats also show the Gold Coast has been one of the worst affected areas.
There have been at least six occasions between February and the end of June where it’s taken more than seven hours for a patient to be admitted to hospital.
In February, one patient waited seven hours and 54 minutes at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Another patient waited seven hours and 56 minutes in June.
The PA Hospital in Brisbane had a patient waiting eight hours in February while Logan Hospital and the Mater Hospital both had waits of 7 hours and 59 minutes in June and April respectively.
Opposition Leader David Crisafulli says the situation is dire.
“Queenslanders lives are on the line. The consequences of ramping are affecting Queenslanders who desperately need help – we’ve seen the proof of that in the last few days,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Paramedics didn’t sign up to sit at an ambulance ramp for an entire shift, while other triple zero calls go unanswered.”
