A paraglider is lucky to be alive after crash-landing onto a roof in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

The man, aged in his 50s, was paragliding when he’s believed to have failed his landing around 12.20pm on Sunday.

He landed on top of a cafe in Canungra, sparking an emergency rescue operation.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and were able to help the man to safety by extricating him from the top of the building.

He was treated by paramedics for a leg injury suffered during the mishap but was thankfully taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
