Desperate for a holiday and have a tonne of annual leave up your sleeve? Well, today is your lucky day because direct flights between the Gold Coast and Bali have just launched for the first time ever!
The inaugural Gold Coast to Bali service will take off this evening, marking an exciting new chapter for the two popular holiday destinations.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, passengers onboard the first flight will be treated to a pre-flight ‘stretch and sip’ playfully combining two things Bali are famous for – Bintang and yoga.
In further celebration, the airline has also dropped fares from as low as $419 return available until midnight 3 April 2023, but you better get in quick with the flights expected to sell like hot cakes!
The flights will operate daily during peak holiday periods and four times a week year-round, so you can get that Bintang fix as frequently and easily as your little Bali loving heart desires.
Virgin Australia Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Alistair Hartley said the new international connection will provide guests with greater convenience, choice and value.
“Until now, services between Gold Coast and Bali have never been operated by any commercial airline, making this another milestone for Virgin Australia and our guests,” he said.
“We are incredibly excited to see this service take off, representing the latest step in growing our international footprint, which consists of over 500 destinations around the world through Virgin Australia and our partner airlines”.
Queensland Airports Limited Chief Commercial Officer Adam Rowe said the new route, which went on sale in September last year, has already seen strong uptake from Gold Coast locals, particularly through the school holiday periods.
“This new connection makes Bali holidays quicker and easier for Gold Coast and Northern NSW locals, removing the need for connecting flights, or long and unpredictable trips up the motorway,”
Mr Rowe said.
“This is another significant step in our airport’s recovery, with our international connections now one step closer to pre-covid levels, and more new services on the horizon,” Mr Rowe said.
Currently, Virgin Australia is operating the highest number of domestic flights through Gold Coast Airport of any Australian carrier, with April capacity expected to reach 142 per cent of pre-COVID levels.
