There’s been a major plot twist within the NRL this morning, with the Gold Coast Titans confirming they’ve signed Jamayne Isaako for the remainder of the 2022 season.

The shock announcement came just moments after the Brisbane Broncos confirmed they had granted Isaako an immediate release from the club.

Rugby League insiders were confident the star utility was heading to Parramatta to join the Eels, but the Titans threw a curveball with the surprise signing on Tuesday.

“The Gold Coast Titans backline stocks have been boosted, with New Zealand international Jamayne Isaako joining the club for the remainder of 2022,” the Titans said in a statement.

Coach Justin Holbrook said he’s excited to see what the 25-year-old will bring to the club.

“Jamayne adds great depth to our outside backs and provides us with coverage across both the fullback and wing positions,” Holbrook said.

“We’ve got strong competition across a number of positions and adding Jamayne gives us another exciting option to choose from in our backline”.

Holbrook admitted that he had “kept a spot on the roster open” and that he’s “thrilled” to have now added Jamayne to the team.

“With a number of talented young backline players on our roster, Jamayne will no doubt be able to help with their development during his time with the Titans,” Holbrook said.

Isaako joins the Titans effective immediately and will remain in the blue and gold for this season only, before joining the Dolphins from 2023.
