Dramatic scenes on the M1 this afternoon with a car bursting into flames, causing lengthy delays for motorists.
The car erupted just after 2.30pm at Exit 54 northbound off-ramp at Upper Coomera.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to quickly extinguish the blaze.
The left lane of the M1 is blocked with heavy delays right back to Worongary, at the time of writing.
It’s unknown at this stage what sparked the fire.

Meantime the southern end of the Gold Coast is a nightmare, with massive delays on the M1 and the Gold Coast Highway.
Traffic northbound is terrible from Tweed Heads right up to Burleigh.
Southbound traffic is busy through the roadworks in Reedy Creek and Burleigh.
Also chaos on the Gold Coast Highway, especially through Palm Beach, with motorists hoping to avoid the M1 traffic.
