A brand-new state-of-the-art police station has officially opened its doors in Pimpama, providing a much-needed surveillance boost to the Northern Gold Coast
The 24-hour facility has employed 36 police officers, including one senior sergeant and four sergeants.
Minister for Police and Corrective Services Mark Ryan MP says it is an extraordinary investment in policing on the Gold Coast.
“It’s starting a tradition and it’s good to see that investment being made in areas where there is a population growth and obviously where the police service sees there is a need to deliver those resources.” Mr Ryan said.
According to the QPS Online Crime Map, in the past 6 months, the Northern Gold Coast areas of Pimpama, Ormeau, Ormeau Hills, Coomera and Upper Coomera have experienced over 2400 offences including theft, hooning and domestic & family violence.
Queensland Police Service Commissioner Katarina Carroll says with the increasing population in the Northern Gold Coast, it was evident a new police facility was required to keep up.
“We’ve done a lot of work internally to look at where our demand is and you’re really using evidence-based and science in relation to those calculations. As a result, that’s why we’re seeing the numbers go where they actually require them,” Commissioner Carroll said.
“It’s really exciting times here at Pimpama in this part of the Gold Coast which is a massive growth area and we’re future-proofed. This station will hold us in good stead for the next 20, 30, 40 years.”

Commissioner Carroll says domestic violence and road trauma will be priority areas of concern for the Pimpama station.
“Unfortunately, domestic violence is a massive priority for the organisation and for community safety. It is around 40% of our work,”
“There is always also road trauma, we have the M1 where we experience that, so it is that general crime and road trauma which is always our priority.”
The Pimpama police station will also take pressure off other busy Gold Coast police precincts including Coomera, Nerang and Mudgeeraba.
