Gold Coasters impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred can now access new funding payments being dished out by the Federal Government.

The new funding package was unveiled by Gold Coast-based Senator Murray Watt while visiting the city’s disaster and emergency centre on Wednesday.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment offers residents a one-off $1,000 grant per adult and $400 per child.

The payment is for people who suffered serious damage to their home or injury as a direct result of the cyclone.

“The recent tropical cyclone and its aftermath has caused destruction in Queensland, and the Albanese Government is ready to support local communities,” the Federal Government said.

“Support through the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment is just part of the comprehensive aid we’re providing to help those affected rebuild their lives.

“As we assess the full impact of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, we are mobilising swiftly to ensure that affected areas receive the necessary support.
