A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a horror crash at Upper Coomera.

The 63-year-old was riding on Tamborine Oxenford Rd on Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a Mazda RX-7.

“It looks like was travelling at a great rate of knots, eastbound towards the coast,” Acting Superintendent Craig Knowles told the ABC.

“It’s lost control on a curve across the wrong side of the road and actually struck this motorcyclist driving in the opposite direction.”

The rider from Hope Island suffered spinal and pelvic injuries as well as internal bleeding.

He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
