A motorcyclist has been rescued after falling down an embankment in the Gold Coast Hinterland this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Lower Beechmont just after 2.30pm, following reports a motorbike rider had gone over the edge of Beechmont Road.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson told myGC the rider plunged 15 metres down an embankment, sparking a delicate rescue operation.

He was eventually helped to safety using “vertical rescue techniques” and was treated at the scene by paramedics for fractures.

The man, aged in his 50s, has since been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Motorists are being urged to avoid Beechmont Road with hefty delays currently being experienced.
