LATEST @ 11.45 AM | A man has died following a horror motorbike crash on the M1 this morning.
Police say initial investigations suggest the 33-year-old rider was “filtering through traffic” in the northbound lanes at Shailer Park just before 6.00am, when he collided with a car.
“The impact caused the rider to be thrown from his bike into the southbound lanes of the M1,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
Despite desperate attempts by emergency crews, the man died at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating.
They’re appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam of the crash, or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.

EARLIER @ 8AM | A motorcyclist is feared dead after a horror crash on the M1 that is causing peak hour chaos.
A motorcycle and a car collided in the southbound lanes of the motorway at Shailer Park around 5.50am on Thursday morning.
Queensland Ambulance has confirmed a critically injured person was assessed by paramedics.
All southbound lanes remain closed with delays back to Springwood.
Traffic is being diverted at Exit 28.
There are also significant northbound delays with one lane currently closed.
Traffic is queued back to Yatala.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area or delay their trip.

EARLIER @ 6.10 AM | Motorists are being warned of significant delays on the M1 this morning after a serious accident at Tanah Merah.
The accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle happened in the southbound lanes near the Nujooloo Rd overpass around 5.50am
Emergency services remain on scene.
All southbound lanes are currently closed with diversions in place.
Northbound traffic is also being impacted.
