A motorbike rider is fighting for life this morning after a horrific crash on the M1 in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was travelling southbound on the motorway through Pimpama around 12.15am when he collided with the back of a car.
The impact sent him flying off his bike and he was then hit by another following vehicle, leaving him trapped underneath.
Emergency services quickly rushed to the scene, with police having to shut down part of the motorway for some time.
The 48-year-old man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances of the crash.
