UPDATE | Fire crews have extinguished a large vegetation fire that broke out in Carrara.
The blaze broke out near Palm Meadows Drive just before 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Up to 12 crews from QFES battled the blaze with large plumes of smoke covering nearby areas.
The fire was eventually put out at around 9.30pm.
Firefighters will monitor the area this morning.
EARLIER | A smoke warning has been issued for parts of the Gold Coast due to a massive grass fire.
The blaze is currently burning in vegetation between Baltimore Court and Palm Meadows Drive in Carrara.
At least 12 fire crews are currently on scene battling the flames, with another nine called in to assist.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperon has confirmed no properties are under threat at this stage.
However, residents in Carrara, Nerang, Merrimac and surrounding areas are being urged to close their windows and doors with smoke expected to impact the suburbs.
