Moped rider injured after crashing into tram

A moped rider has ended up in hospital after colliding with a tram in Surfers Paradise.

The crash happened at the intersection of Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Trickett St just after 9pm on Monday.

Witnesses report the moped had struck the side of the tram.

The tram continued with the driver not realising the crash had occurred, but later stopped at Broadbeach South.

The female moped rider in her 20s was assessed on the scene by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.

She was later taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
