Two men have been forced to swim for their lives following a horror boat crash on the Gold Coast early this morning.
It’s believed the pair were on board a smaller boat which collided with a larger, unmanned vessel in the Southport Broadwater just before 5.20am.
The impact forced the two men overboard, with one man swimming to South Stradbroke Island, and the other swimming to shore at Paradise Point where the alarm was raised.
One man has since been rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital with significant leg and arm injuries, as well as hypothermia.
The other man is currently being transported by water police to Runaway Bay, also suffering serious injuries including cold exposure.
Crews are currently searching the water off Anglers Esplanade to ensure no one else was on board at the time.
