Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after two men were set upon by a group of masked men in Southport and kidnapped, assaulted and tortured.
The 24-year-old South Australian man and 22-year-old local were in the carpark of a complex around 8pm on Wednesday when they were approached by five men in balaclavas who had arrived in a Nissan Maxima.
A fight then broke out and the two men were forced into the 24-year-old’s 2020 Mercedes Benz C63 sedan.
He managed to break free and escape but the 22-year-old was left inside the car, which then sped off.
Witnesses notified police of what was happening and the 24-year-old was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
The ordeal continued for the 22-year-old, who was driven a short distance before being transferred to another car and driven to a secondary location.
While there, it’s alleged he was tied to a chair, assaulted and threatened with what is believed to be a firearm.
The offenders then ditched him somewhere in Brisbane and fled.
The 22-year-old was able to get an Uber back to his Southport home around 11.30pm, where officers found him with injuries to his face and wrists before he was also taken to hospital for further treatment.
Both the Mercedes and Nissan were found by investigators dumped in nearby Southport streets.
Police are now appealing to anyone with information, or to anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious or captured dash-camera footage in the vicinity of Como Crescent, Brighton Parade, or Park Lane that night to come forward.
