The rain deluge has wreaked havoc across the Gold Coast, with a major road in the hinterland closed following a massive landslide.
A section of Beechmont Road has been completely destroyed with half of the road falling down the mountain.
The road has been closed off in both directions between Nerang-Murwillumbah Road and Binna Burra Road.
It comes after the city copped a drenching overnight, with over 300mm recorded in some parts.
Detours are now in place for residents in the hinterland.
Any properties below Brushbox Road can enter via Nerang-Murwillumbah Road and properties above can enter via Beaudesert-Nerang Road (Canungra).
Up to 40 roads have been closed across the Gold Coast overnight, mostly due to flooding or debris.
