A man is on the run after robbing a bottle shop in Burleigh Heads at knifepoint.

The masked thief is accused of storming the West Street bottle-o around 10pm on Tuesday.

Police say he threatened the worker with the weapon, demanding the staff member hand over cash from the till.

“Once the employee complied, the man fled on foot with a sum of cash and two bottles of liquor,” Queensland Police said.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

A manhunt is now underway to track down the alleged thief, who is described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his early 20s.

He was wearing a dark green hoodie, dark long pants, white shoes and a face mask at the time of the robbery.
