A major manhunt is underway on the Gold Coast this morning after a young man was stabbed on a suburban street.

The 20-year-old is believed to have been walking along Willow Street in Varsity Lakes around 2.30pm on Sunday when he was approached by a man on a bike.

The man left but allegedly returned a short time later with two friends in tow.

It’s alleged one of the men then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen.

He was able to stagger to a nearby friend’s house and call for help.

The young man from Coomera was then rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Those responsible remain on the run this morning, but police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
