LATEST @ 11.40AM | A man has been hospitalised after a fire ripped through the roof of a Burleigh Waters home.

Fire crews were called to the house on Honeyeater Drive around 10.15am.

The blaze has now been brought under control, which had started in the home’s roof space.

Three fire crews remain on scene, dampening down hot spots and ventilating the home.

The man, whose age is unknown, has suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.

He’s been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

It’s understood fire investigators will likely now probe the scene to determine a cause.

EARLIER @ 10.45AM | Fire crews are battling a fierce blaze that’s broken out in a home at Burleigh Waters.

The fire started in the house on Honeyeater Drive around 10.15 this morning.

Paramedics are currently assessing one person at the scene for smoke inhalation.

A QFES spokesperson says the fire appears to be coming from the roof.

Three crews are on the scene working to get it under control.

It’s not clear at this stage how damaged the home is.
