Police have shot and killed a man following a confrontation on the Gold Coast.
The incident first unfolded in Labrador around 8.15am on Thursday when a man wanted by police was spotted on Calvary Court.
Police say the man presented a firearm at officers before fleeing in a stolen vehicle, which eventually came to a stop on Brisbane Road in Arundel.
Around 9.30am, a second confrontation took place and the man was shot by police.
He suffered critical chest and abdominal injuries, with police and paramedics immediately rendering medical assistance.
Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
