A man has been injured following an alleged wounding in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

Police and paramedics were called to The Esplanade just before midday on Wednesday.

Two males had reportedly been involved in an altercation with one of the men suffering facial injuries.

QAS Gold Coast Senior Operations Supervisor Adam Flory has confirmed the injured man has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

“They’re significant enough that he’s probably going to need some more attention at the hospital. Injuries to his nose, in the middle of his forehead,” Mr Flory said.

“The treatment was mainly done by police prior to our arrival. So police administered first aid, addressed the patient’s wounds prior to our arrival and we just provided more supportive care when we arrived and then transported off the hospital.”

Police have confirmed one male is in custody and is assisting them with inquiries.
