Six people have been assessed by paramedics after a unit burst into flames in Labrador.

The blaze broke out in the apartment on Muir St at around 7pm on Thursday night.

Three fire crews attended the scene, taking about 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

A man in his 70s was taken to a medical centre as a precaution but the other five patients declined any further treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.

However, early indications suggest an electrical fault in the wall of the unit may to be blame.
