An elderly man has been rushed to hospital after smoke engulfed a unit in Currumbin.
Emergency services were called to the apartment complex on Thrower Dr just before midnight on Sunday, forcing residents to evacuate.
The man was helped by QFES crews who located him inside the unit.
He suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Investigators believe the man may have had a heater too close to his bedding before it began to smoulder.
