A man is in a serious condition following a nasty crash between a truck and two cars on the northern Gold Coast.

The vehicles collided along Peachey Road just after 3.30pm on Tuesday.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 20s, had to be rescued by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews after becoming trapped behind the wheel.

He was eventually freed and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition with significant leg injuries.

A woman in her 40s was taken stable to Logan Hospital with facial lacerations, while a third patient declined transport.
