Emergency services have rushed to the beach in Burleigh Heads this morning following reports a body boarder may have gone missing.

Life guards were searching the waters just after 8.00 am with reports the rescue chopper had to assist as well.

However they didn’t find anyone in the water.

Paramedics responded to the scene along Goodwin Terrace around 8.20 am where they reported helping a man who had not been found in the water.

The man in his 30s was assessed at the scene for a ‘medical incident’ and had to be taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.

It’s still not clear exactly what happened but police say their involvement has been limited.

No other injuries were reported.
