A 40-year-old man is in police custody following a dramatic stolen car chase on the northern Gold Coast.
Police spotted a stolen white Mitsubishi Lancer leaving a home on Oxley Drive just before 11am this morning.
The vehicle was tracked by the police chopper while extra units were dispatched to the area on-road.
Officers were forced to deploy tyre spikes to bring the car to a halt, with the man behind the wheel fleeing the scene on foot.
He was spotted jumping fences at properties on Jabiru Island before going under a house at Boykambil Esplanade in Hope Island.
Police pulled him out and took him into custody.
The white Lancer is believed to have been stolen from a Southport address yesterday evening around 6.30pm.
Investigations are ongoing with charges expected to be laid.
