A man has been arrested on the Gold Coast and extradited to NSW over the alleged fatal assault of another man in Tweed Heads.
The 39-year-old was found lying unconscious on the side of William Street by a local resident about 3.15am on Sunday, November 24.
Authorities rushed to the scene and treated the man for serious injuries, however, sadly he could not be saved.
Police established a crime scene, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 48-year-old man in Kirra about 3.30am on Saturday November 30.
He was taken to Southport where he was extradited to NSW before being taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with assault causing death.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court yesterday.
