A man and his dog have died after a vehicle became trapped in floodwaters in the Currumbin Valley.
Emergency services were called to Currumbin Creek Rd near Stackpole Street at around 3am on Monday morning.
A vehicle had reportedly driven 30 to 40 metres into floodwaters.
A swift water rescue team was tasked but were unable to locate the car.
Teams from Surf Life Saving Queensland were called in with an inflatable boat to search for the car.
The vehicle was located at around 10.45am submerged about 10 metres from the road.
A man and a dog were found inside the vehicle.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police have renewed their appeal for people not to take care near floodwaters after a number of rescues across the Gold Coast.
“Unfortunately, yet again overnight we have seen a number of vehicles entering flooded roadways resulting in the potential loss of life and putting not only themselves at risk, but also our emergency service workers who have to then go in and recover and support and rescue those persons,” Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman said.
A man had to be rescued after becoming trapped on the roof of a home in Currumbin.
A woman got stuck in a tree at Currumbin but managed to get herself down after waters subsided.
