A man has died after falling from a well-known landmark in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Emergency crews were called to Tamborine Mountain Road just after 4pm on Thursday, following reports a man had fallen from Piano Rock in Tamborine Mountain.

The 60-year-old is believed to have stumbled from the steep embankment, which had recently been painted with a heart-shaped ‘Yes’ mural.

He was found suffering critical injuries on the road below.

Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, the man could not be revived.

Queensland Police confirmed a report will now be prepared for the coroner.
