A major investigation is underway after a man was killed when a stolen car crashed on the southern Gold Coast.
The stolen white Suzuki SX4 S Cross, which also had stolen registration plates, was travelling south on Dixon Street in Coolangatta around 5am on Sunday when it left the road, crashed into two parked vehicles and then slammed into a fence at an address near Staplyton Street.
A 28-year-old man, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
Queensland Police have since confirmed the Suzuki was reported stolen from a Bilinga address on January 21 and the registration plates were reported stolen sometime before the incident.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with vision of the vehicle prior to the crash to contact police.
