An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly violently stabbing a man multiple times in a Gold Coast park last night.

Police were called to a disturbance on Rifle Bird Street in Coomera around 11.30pm where they say a fight broke out between two young men.

The accused, an 18-year-old Mudgeeraba man, allegedly chased the other to nearby parkland off Picnic Creek Road, before allegedly brutally stabbing him in the arms and leg causing serious injuries.

An 18-year-old Coomera man remains in hospital in a serious condition, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused was taken into custody at a nearby residence and charged early this morning by Gold Coast CIB detectives.

He will front court on Monday on an attempted murder charge and has been denied bail.
