Police have laid charges against a man following a dangerous pursuit on the M1 from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.
The 27-year-old’s accused of leading police for several hours yesterday while hitting and damaging other cars.
The drama began around 10am in Brisbane’s CBD when a Nissan Navara was spotted driving dangerously before heading south on the M1.
The man is also accused of throwing a spanner through the rear windshield of a QAS vehicle near Leopard Street, Woolloongabba.
The Sunshine Coast man tracked south towards the Gold Coast, where he allegedly side-swiped many other cars.
He then abandoned the Nissan Navara on the motorway near Exit 87, allegedly stealing a truck from a nearby construction site.
Police intercepted the truck at Elanora and the driver fled on foot before being taken down nearby.
The allegedly stolen truck was located on Pines Lane, Elanora.
The man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle and four counts of wilful damage.
He is due before Southport Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing.
