A 32-year-old man has been charged over an alleged coward punch attack at a tram station on the Gold Coast.
The violent scenes unfolded around 1.30pm on Sunday, when two men, who are not known to each other, exited a tram at Broadbeach.
“A 22-year-old man walked onto the platform when he was punched from behind and fell to the ground,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
The older man fled the scene, while the victim was treated at the station by paramedics for a broken jaw before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
Police say that just a few hours later, the attacker returned to the tram station where he was arrested by officers.
The Nerang man has since been charged with grievous bodily harm and will front the Southport Magistrates Court today.
