A 61-year-old man has been charged following an alleged hit-and-run in Southport.
According to police, a 59-year-old Helensvale man was crossing the Gold Coast Highway near Marine Parade around 11.40pm on Sunday when he was struck by a Hyundai Elantra.
“The driver of the vehicle allegedly failed to stop and left the scene,” Queensland Police said.
The car believed to have been involved was intercepted along Scarborough Street a short time later, with the driver questioned by police.
The man, from Southport, has since been charged with drive without due care and attention or drive without reasonable consideration for other persons using road or place.
He will front Southport Magistrates Court on May 29.
The victim suffered leg injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
